Diamond Head, My Beloved

Well, hello Summer. Though summer is officially 3 weeks away, can't help but to get excited about the waves we have now and the waves projected for the next few days for our beloved Diamond Head and the rest of the South Shore.

Here's a lovely article by William Finnegan published today in The New Yorker. It's a beautiful and interesting account of being transplanted to Hawaii as a teenager and falling in love with surfing in the 60s. Even though I look more like a local than Finnegan and it was in the 90s when I first arrived and lived in Hawaii, I definitey feel a strong connection with his story, Off Diamond Head: To Be Thirteen, With A Surfboard, In Hawaii.
