Ko'olau Summit Sunset

My friends and I took a break from civilization and hiked up to the Ko'olau Summit. From the trailhead at the North Shore of Oahu the summit was only 3 miles up, but with the packs full of semi-gourmet ingredients for our meals (some in glass containers) that we carried, the trek felt more like 10 miles. But oh, we ate well.

I've hiked several trails in Hawaii, but this hike to the summit was the closest I've ever been and felt to Native Hawai'i. It was simply serene and beautiful.
