Aloe Blossoms Under the Bridge
"I walk through her hills
'Cause she knows who I am
She sees my good deeds
And she kisses me windy"
-Red Hot Chili Peppers
It's been a hundred or so years since I was a little, pimply teenager, but this song played in my head as I came down the cliff right before dusk to take a picture of a little patch of aloe right under the bridge that's served as half of the two points I use to mark my line-up when I am out surfing. During the last few weeks as I make my way to shore, I've noticed bright little specs of orange and peach pop up right in front of me. What was once just a dry, weedy, area right under Diamond Head is now a beautiful patch that to me sings Northern California. I plan to paint this before the season ends.
